The 11th edition of API 5CT (Specification for Petroleum Casing and Tubing) has undergone a number of technical updates and revisions compared to previous versions (such as the 10th edition), mainly focusing on improvements in material requirements, test methods, quality control and normative clauses. The following is a summary of its main modifications:

1. New steel grades and material requirements
New steel grades: such as Q125 and C110, suitable for higher strength or corrosion resistance requirements.

Material performance optimization: The chemical composition and mechanical properties (such as yield strength and impact toughness) of existing steel grades (such as L80 and P110) have been adjusted to improve reliability in high temperature, high pressure or sour environments.

2. Dimension and tolerance adjustments
Weight and dimension specifications: The outer diameter, wall thickness and weight tolerances of casing and tubing have been revised to ensure consistency with global manufacturing standards.

Thread processing requirements: The tolerance range of thread geometry (such as pitch and taper) has been updated, and the standards for thread protectors have been strengthened.

3. Strengthening of testing and inspection
Non-destructive testing (NDT): Expand the application scope of ultrasonic testing (UT) and magnetic particle testing (MT), especially for high-grade steel products.

Full-length testing: Require full-length hardness testing of pipes of specific steel grades to eliminate local defects.

Pressure testing: Adjust the holding time and pressure value of hydrostatic pressure testing to ensure sealing.

4. Environmental and safety adaptability
Suitability for sour environment (H2S): Clarify the use restrictions of steel grades in hydrogen sulfide environments, and update the test method for resistance to sulfide stress cracking (SSC) (such as NACE TM0177 standard).

Low-temperature toughness requirements: Add impact toughness indicators for pipes in polar or low-temperature environments.

5. Marking and document updates
Permanent marking: Require laser engraving or electronic tags (RFID) to replace some traditional steel stamps to reduce stress concentration risks.

Document traceability: Strengthen the archiving requirements for manufacturing records and inspection reports to ensure traceability throughout the life cycle.

6. Normative reference updates
Citing the latest versions of ASTM, ISO and NACE standards, such as updating material test methods to adapt to industry technological advances.

7. Other revisions
Appendix adjustments: Some technical appendices (such as thread calculations and test procedures) have been reorganized or deleted to make the structure clearer.

Term unification: Standardize term definitions (such as the division of responsibilities between "manufacturer" and "supplier") to reduce ambiguity.
