ISO 10763 is the fundamental international standard for hydraulic steel tubing, specifying dimensions and rated working pressures for plain-end seamless and welded precision steel tubes. SAE J1065 serves as the corresponding reference standard for working pressures of imperial-sized tubing.
The SAE J series (US-based, widely adopted in the industry) covers hydraulic steel tubing across various strength grades:
SAE J525: Low-carbon steel, welded, cold-drawn tubing; suitable for general hydraulic lines; capable of bending and flaring.
SAE J356: Low-carbon steel, welded tubing; suitable for forming operations such as double flaring and bending.
SAE J2467: SAE 1021 carbon steel, welded, cold-drawn tubing; features higher carbon and manganese content; used for higher-pressure applications.
SAE J2613 / J2832 / J2833: High-strength, low-alloy steel hydraulic tubing; tensile strength grades of 500 MPa and 690 MPa; used for high-pressure hydraulic lines.
SAE J3127 / J3128 / J3129 / J3135: 304/304L stainless steel hydraulic tubing series; covers welded, cold-drawn, seamless, and high-strength variants.
DIN 2391 (superseded by EN 10305-1) is a common European standard for precision seamless steel tubing; St 37.4 and St 52.4 are common material grades used in hydraulic systems.
Stainless steel hydraulic tubing commonly adheres to ASTM A269/A213 standards.
