Difference between seamless and welded hollow section

Date:2023-10-17View:165Tags:Difference between seamless and welded hollow section

Seamless hollow sections are manufactured without any welding or joining process. They are made by piercing a solid steel billet or bloom to create a hollow tube. This process ensures a uniform and consistent thickness throughout the entire length of the section. Seamless hollow sections are typically used in applications where high strength, durability, and resistance to corrosion are required.

On the other hand, welded hollow sections are made by joining multiple pieces of steel together through a welding process. The steel plates or coils are first formed into the desired shape, and then welded together along the edges to create the hollow section. Welded hollow sections are generally more cost-effective and readily available in various sizes and shapes. However, the welding process can introduce potential weak points or inconsistencies in the section, which may affect its strength and durability.
