Introduction to Ultra-High Strength Fasteners

Date:2026-09-09View:2Tags:Boier tube,Alloy steel pipe,ASTM A106 steel pipe
Ultra-high strength fasteners refer to fasteners with a tensile strength of 1500 MPa or higher. Their core value lies in "achieving the same clamping force with a smaller size." While meeting or even exceeding existing connection strength requirements, they can significantly reduce the size and weight of the fastener itself, freeing up valuable space and weight for the connected structural components. This is particularly important for fields pursuing extreme lightweighting, such as aerospace, high-performance automobiles, and wind power equipment.

1. Material is the foundation: High-quality alloy steels such as SCM435 and 42CrMoA, or even lightweight, high-strength materials such as titanium alloys and titanium-aluminum alloys, are required. The purity (impurity content must be controlled at the ppm level) and uniformity of the material directly affect the final performance.

2. Process is the guarantee: Precise heat treatment technology (such as composite microstructure control) and cold heading processes are key to determining its final strength and toughness.

3. Challenges and bottlenecks: When the strength exceeds a certain threshold, the material faces the risk of "hydrogen embrittlement" (i.e., delayed fracture), which is one of the core challenges that ultra-high strength fasteners need to overcome. In addition, there are long fatigue tests and customer verification processes (especially in the aviation industry, where certification cycles can take 3-5 years).
