Cement mortar coated steel pipe is a composite pipe with a cement mortar lining on the inner wall of a steel pipe. It is primarily used as a mature and economical anti-corrosion solution in water supply and drainage and long-distance water transmission projects, especially suitable for large-diameter water transmission trunk lines. Its core value lies in extending the life of the steel pipe and ensuring water quality through the dual effects of physical isolation and chemical corrosion protection.

Main Application Areas
This technology, with its excellent cost-effectiveness, is widely used in multiple engineering fields:

Municipal Water Supply and Drainage Projects: This is the most core application scenario, including urban tap water transportation, buried water pipelines, and sewage treatment and discharge pipes. It effectively prevents corrosion and scaling on the inner wall of the pipe, ensuring the quality of the water supply.

Long-Distance Water Transmission Projects: In projects such as the Dahuo Reservoir water transmission project and urban water diversion projects, cement mortar lining technology is widely used for the internal corrosion protection of large-diameter steel pipes.

Industrial Sector: It is also used in oil transportation pipelines, chemical process pipelines (transporting corrosive media), and heating network pipelines, but attention must be paid to temperature resistance limitations.

In the fields of fire protection and structure: Because cement mortar can absorb heat, this structure can also improve the fire resistance time of steel pipes (up to 3 hours of fire resistance), and can also play a load-bearing role in some composite structures.

🔧 Core Anti-corrosion Principles and Advantages

The effectiveness of cement mortar coatings relies on two key mechanisms:

Physical isolation: The coating directly isolates the inner wall of the steel pipe from water and air, preventing contact corrosion.

Chemical passivation: Cement mortar creates a strongly alkaline environment with a pH value of over 12, causing a dense passivation film to form on the inner surface of the steel pipe, thus protecting it.

Compared to other anti-corrosion methods, it also has the following significant advantages:

Low cost: Materials are widely available, and the investment typically accounts for only 2% to 4% of the total investment in water transmission steel pipes.

Strong bond: Cement mortar and the inner wall of the steel pipe have multiple bonding forces, including adhesive force and friction, and their coefficients of thermal expansion are basically the same, making it difficult to peel off.

"Self-healing" property: During the hardening process or when affected by external forces, the coating may develop micro-cracks. However, after being put into operation, substances such as calcium hydroxide in the water will automatically heal the cracks without affecting the anti-corrosion effect.
