BS (British Standards) standards are a set of technical standards developed by the British Standards Institution (BSI), a non-profit organization that is recognized as the national standards body for the UK. The BS standards cover a wide range of industries, including engineering, construction, healthcare, and consumer goods.

Examples of BS standards include BS 7671 for electrical installations, BS EN ISO 9001 for quality management systems, and BS EN 12845 for automatic sprinkler systems. Each BS standard has a unique number that identifies it and defines its scope.

The development of BS standards involves a process that includes consultation with experts from industry, government, and other relevant bodies. The standards aim to ensure that products and services are safe, reliable, and of high quality. Compliance with BS standards can also help companies to meet legal requirements and gain access to international markets.

There are several British Standards (BS) related to steel pipes, including:

  1. BS 1387:1985 - Specification for screwed and socketed steel tubes and tubulars and for plain end steel tubes suitable for welding or for screwing to BS 21 pipe threads.

  2. BS EN 10255:2004 - Non-alloy steel tubes suitable for welding and threading. Technical delivery conditions.

  3. BS EN 10219-1:2006 - Cold formed welded structural hollow sections of non-alloy and fine grain steels. Technical delivery requirements.

  4. BS EN 10210-1:2006 - Hot finished structural hollow sections of non-alloy and fine grain steels. Technical delivery requirements.

These standards cover different types of steel pipes, including those for general use, threaded and welded pipes, structural hollow sections, and more. They provide guidance on the technical specifications and quality requirements for steel pipes, including material composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and tolerances.
