Putin's Visit to China

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on the evening of May 19 for a two-day state visit to China. This is Putin's 25th visit to China, and the accompanying delegation is substantial, including five deputy prime ministers and eight ministers, among other high-ranking officials.
On the morning of May 20, President Xi Jinping held a welcoming ceremony for Putin at the Great Hall of the People. Following the ceremony, the two heads of state held small-group and large-group talks, and an informal tea reception. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation between China and Russia. The two countries also launched the "China-Russia Year of Education" cultural exchange program.
It is noteworthy that Putin's visit comes just days after US President Donald Trump's visit to China on May 15. Analysts believe that the consecutive visits to China by the US and Russian leaders highlight China's important stabilizing role in the current complex and volatile international situation.
